Wood key cards are used in hotels given to every new guest and often kept as a souvenir once checked out.

Plastic cards are used for all types of swipe cards including long term and short term uses. Long term are credit cards, ATM cards etc. In the short term segment, the main 2 categories are gift cards and hotel key cards.

Wood hotel key cards are made from real wood processed in micro thickness and laminated together. These wood key cards or swipe cards are very rigid in thickness of 0.03”/ 0.76mm x 55mm x 86mm and with rounded corners. Embedded with magnetic strips and value charged, it behaves just like a plastic card.

Hotel key cards are usually swipe cards with a very short term use and millions of cards are thrown to the earth after use. It is of grave concern that man abuses the earth using plastic cards for these short term use. It is about time that man starts using biodegradable materials for short term use like hotel key cards. Hence is the idea of using wood cards as hotel key cards.

Nissiwood manufacture wood cards from a specie called Pine grown in the back yards of Kerala Coastal townships in India. Processed in micro thickness and pasted together with no emission of formaldehyde. The material contained in a card is 98% wood or other cellulose material. These are the 2 aspects which will work against the plastic cards especially for short term use.

Our in-house facility provides for artwork, printing and magnetic embedding. Customers are also free to provide their own artwork.
